A 1 Day Tsavo East safari is a full day trip that starts early in the morning at dawn and ends at dusk. On this day safari to tsavo east, you will have about 6 to six 8 hours on game drives looking for animals and birds while also enjoying the spectacular red colored landscapes of Tsavo East national park. This Wild Kenya Safaris day trip starts from Mombasa, Diani Beach and also other areas on the Kenya coast.

The sight of dust-red elephant wallowing, rolling and spraying each other with the midnight blue waters of palm-shaded Galana River is one of the most evocative images in Africa. This, along with the 300 kilometers long Yatta Plateau, the longest lava flow in the world, make for an adventure unlike any other in the Tsavo East. The park forms the largest protected area in Kenya and is home to most of the larger mammals, vast herds of dust –red elephant, Rhino, buffalo, lion, leopard, pods of hippo, crocodile, waterbucks, lesser Kudu, gerenuk and the prolific bird life features 500 recorded species.

  • Lunch is served from 1 PM to 4 PM
  • Pickup from Hotel for Tsavo East

    This safari can start from any of the costal beach hotels either Malindi, Watamu Mombasa or Diani. The departure is early in the morning from your hotel and drive across the ferry to Mombasa Town. We then take the Mombasa –Nairobi highway and drive for 110km with a brief stopover on the way for refreshments and toilet.

    You then proceed for a few minutes and enter Tsavo East through the Bachuma Gate, the first gate of Tsavo. You start searching for the big five. Have a brief stop at Aruba Dam and watch animals’ drinking water. Thereafter proceed to the lodge for lunch.

    After lunch do another game drive that is searching for animals until 3.00pm where you will exit from the park and drive back to Mombasa/Diani arriving late in the evening. Animals expected to see in Tsavo East are the red elephants, lions, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, cheetah and leopard if you are lucky.

  • Guide to the Shimoni - Cave

    Depending on the tides, the tour can have a twist any time during the season. It can start with Dhow tour or the Cave visit. However, the plan is to visit the cave first since it can take like an hour. During the cave tour, you will get an opportunity to see slaves anchor and the chain.

  • Lunch is served from 1 PM to 4 PM
  • Preparing for the Dhow tour

    After the cave visit, the tour agency will take us to the Kenya Wildlife Service offices to pay for the marine park fees. Then we shall take a walk down the jet to board the traditional Arabic Dhow. Each person will be given floaters as preparations for the journey. On the tour, you will visit Mpunguti Marine Park, swim with Dolphins and enjoy it to 15:00 PM.

  • Lunch is served from 1 PM to 4 PM
  • Dock at Wasini Island

    After a long tour full of joy and experiences, the dhow will dock jet (Wasini Island). After the dock, we shall alight the dhow as we head to the local restaurant in Wasini where we shall have our lunch full of delicious seafood and traditional Swahili dishes. After the heavy lunch, we shall take a walk within the Island including the visit to the women boardwalk.

  • Depart Shimoni / Wasini for the Hotel

    Immediately after the Wasini Island tour, we shall head back to the Shimoni jet as we prepare for return back. The Dhow will take to approximately 15 min of cross over, and immediately we dock, we shall take our belongings and get into the car as we return to our hotel. It will take us almost 3hrs and a half.
